Common Questions
The property owner must file a Notice of Commencement in the county real estate records before work begins (or within 15 days of commencement) on projects over $2,500. This establishes the priority date for liens. If no Notice of Commencement is filed, subcontractors may have difficulty establishing their lien priority.
